I'm a member of the Sequoia chapter. CRFG is great, lots of like minded people sharing their experiences. It is a lot like these forums but face to face and usually with fruit to taste of some sort. Most chapters also have their 'Jewels' too, our chapter has "The amazing Walter" and our chapter Pres. homes which are jaw dropping amazing places (to name a few). Plus I learned to graft from the grafting seminar, traded seeds, scions, plants and met some people that I now consider friends, from various chapters. In addition as an organization they help disseminate lots of information and even inspire people to try new things and places.
Recently, there was a pretty cool article written by a gent on this forum about his trip to Puerto Rico.
Behl, the "Main" organization is the $27, $46, & $56 a year, I believe you may join that w/out joining a local chapter. Local chapters do charge a small yearly fee as Jason points out to cover their expenses. Usually at the first meeting alone I eat my yearly fee in fruit so I come out WAAAAAAY ahead on cost.
