Whitman's fiberless soursop is sour
« on: February 11, 2018, 01:35:24 AM »

Hello everyone,
This is my 3 year old Whitman's fiber-less soursop. The fruit is indeed almost fiber-free..has the texture of atemoyas ... unfortunately it is sour. Was told the tree might not be productive...however my 3 years old tree produced 5 fruits.  Still made an excellent smoothie since no fiber.  Got the the grafted tree from Frankie's Nursery.  Notice the strange blue greyish leaves.

I found it sweet and tangy.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

What month was your fruit produced?  Maybe it is a temperature thing.

Was it a seedling?

If so, chances are it wont have the same flavor characteristics of the parent.

I believe it was late spring harvest in FL.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

It was not a seedling.  It was grafted.

Well, well sour? I didn't want to hear that after positive reports of its exquisite taste. My lisa and Arusha have great fruit so much better than Cuban fibreless. My morado and Whitman fibreless seedlings are yet to fruit. I will hold myself back from ripping out the Whitman until it fruits.
