Having a baby in Sarasota today but if available this weekend or early next week I'll take some. I have a tree but never tasted the fruit. Have been wanting to try it for a long time.
Thanks,
Chris

I made fruit fly traps out of spinosad, vinegar and sugar. Put that in a jar, cover with plastic, rubber band it, then poke tiny holes. Place at base of tree. Then put up the out door sticky traps.

Spinosad:

Garden fly sticky traps:

That will keep them busy for a while. Worked great for me.

Thanks for the reply! I'm glad that I'm not the only one, I guess. Does yours also have the jagged edges on the leaves?

That's usually what the bottom leaves look like before they fall off naturally. Rip it off.

I don't see an obvious graft on mine so I'm a little confused...are they typically fast fruiting from seed? I don't think my tree is all that mature as it's only about 3ft tall max.

It went from doom and gloom to bloom. All kinds of new growth as well. Sometimes they just require a little patience.

I guess I'm wondering can it hurt to mulch with oak leaves?

To me this has more legitimacy since its been reported by farmers first. Their trees growing under oak thrive. So the scientists got the idea to study oak from real life experience, rather than some hunch.

I did read some other threads about this variety but it didn't seem like anyone reported first hand growing experience yet.

Normally I don't jump on things like this but the article above is from UFL. I would think that they are an authority in the matter.

Citrus General Discussion / Citrus greening and oak leaves.
« on: February 13, 2020, 09:48:38 AM »
I read online that there is building evidence that somehow live oak leaves can slow or prevent citrus greening. They haven't isolated exactly what it is in the leaf that causes this. Supposedly farmers have known for some years about trees thriving under live oak canopies. Has anyone here experienced this? My other question is, do I have a live oak here and should I make tea out of its leaves and apply to my Satsumas?

I'm also interested in white sapote scions

Do you grow annona squamosa aka sugar apple? My in-laws have them and they survived 27f in 2017 with just leaf damage. I know it's not a Cherimoya but a good substitute.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / "Younghan's" white sapote
« on: February 12, 2020, 07:24:16 AM »
I bought a grafted white sapote tree labeled Young Hands.  I've read that Young Hands is also called Younghans. Has anyone here grown and fruited this variety? If so, what is your opinion? How does it compare to Suebell or other sweet varieties.

Mod edit: Corrected the variety name. Young Hands is the incorrect spelling.

Help! The new growth on my grumichama looks terrible. Is this just cold damage or should I be hitting it with something before all the buds open up.
Thanks,
Chris

It's already got a hole in it but nothing is in there. It's new within the last day though. Looks more nest like than cocoon.
