On the old forum there was a member that dug a semi-large under ground greenhouse. I believed he lived in the Ukraine, but I not sure. He was an interesting member. If anyone remembers his name, or has contact with him, please E-mail him and invite him to join with us.

Then I'm not sure. I remember there were a few people in that area that had dug down greenhouses. Rad is probably correct.

I went to the Ukrainian web site but I had no idea what any of the words meant. I clicked here and there but was baffled what to do. It did show a picture of his greenhouse---nice. If anyone understands Ukrainian perhaps they would invite him. He was a nice guy.

I think that this old member was another Sergei; also from Ukraine, but from a city of Slavuta. His was posting at old forum under nickname Serj . He is running another Ukrainian forum- myflora and also build several semi underground greenhouses.

For over 10 years I had a greenhouse dug into a south-facing hill in Kansas, zone 6. I could keep tomatoes and figs alive all winter with no heat but the sun. Neither fogs nor tomatoes grew during December, January, or February, but the plants would star growing again in March.
I could take it with me when I moved, of course. Bummer.

I don't think SoCal2warm and Sanguinelo (from the old forum) are the same person. Sanguinelo was a European.
