Late Second Bloom Mangos
« on: September 09, 2013, 01:09:16 PM »
This past season I had a few of my mango trees put out a very late second and even third bloom. Its now mid September and I'm harvesting Graham, Kent, Maha Chanok, and Tong Bi Con mangoes. I'm hoping to go into mid-October with fruit still on the trees. Yet my "latest variety" Neelam has been done since August... ??? A very strange but long lasting season.

That actually sounds nice. I agree with weird year tho. I have orange trees full of fruit that started blooming on some branches. Also 2 peach trees with blooms yesterday.  Maybe it happens but I just haven't seen it till now?

Enjoy your mangos!

Nice. Mallika was the last mango from my yard and thats was early August. Neelam ended about a week before that. Do your Tog Bi Con mangoes look like your Ivory? My trees are definitely different.

I actually prefer the late season flowering...there's a better chance of the late blooms surviving the freezes for me. Every time I get blooms in the Dec. or January it always gets nailed!! Its best for me when it blooms in Feb. better chance of making it  :)

Hopefully, my Keitt will bloom next this winter...that's my latest variety.
