How to pollinate Seedless Guava?
« on: June 24, 2017, 12:34:07 AM »
Guys, I have 2 seedless guava trees, both have many flowers, but I have no clue what to do to pollinate it:(
I tried getting a brush and brushed over the flowers like what I saw on YouTube, but it just not working. Any ideas what I should be doing?

Thanks

Are there no bees on the flowers?  How long ago did you try the hand polination?  Guava fruits take several weeks to start showing signs of growth after blooming.

I had no success with pollinating seedless guava flowers with their own pollen.

I picked newly opened, guava with many seeds, flower and rubbed it on the seedless flower. I did this on 2 flowers and got 2 fruits.

are seedless much harder to pollinate than regular guava for some reason ??

i have several guava, and i do nothing special.
i get tons of fruit . never had a problem with that.
i do see bees sometimes around the flowers.

get some milkweed  and other perennial flowering plants.
the flowers attract bees and other pollinators.

My uncle had low fruit set on his seedless guava. The variety he had was truely seedless with only an occasional seed or two.

Either seedless guava pollen are low potency or seedless guava flowers require pollen from another tree. I'm not sure which one, or both.

My mom's friend had 1 fruit on her tree. Her other friend had 5 fruits.

I don't want to look at fruitless tree, so I get 2 fruit going. I'll not intervene on the rest of the flowers.
