Selling a few fruit trees and some ornamentals.


Fruit trees:
- Rosita or Flor de cacao
- Loquat
- Tamarindo
- Australian fingerlime
- Kei apple
- Ice cream bean


I took pics of the ornamentals as I’m not sure of their names.


They range in price from $20 -$50.  Most have  probably outgrown their 3-gallon containers and are ready for either transplanting or in the ground.

I know that some of these are available at local nurseries like Pine Island but was hoping to trade. I have the following plants available:

Unfortunately, I only have 1 dragon fruit variety that is self sterile so it barely gives fruit even with hand pollination. Looking to buy or trade (or share) other varieties of dragon fruit with local South Florida members.

This plant is finally giving me its first fruits and although they're small they might be enough for ID. The fruits don't appear to be ripe and are very small at the moment, probably slightly less than 1 cm.
First 2 pics show the 2 small fruits.

I believe it's a citrus relative due to its flavor and leaves, but can't pinpoint a species. Really small, 1/4 inch diameter, at most, and a citrusy flavor, but not sure what could be done with these due to their size.

       

Any ideas are welcome!

I noticed that one of my new papaya plants has yellow flowers. I've never seen yellow flowers on a papaya before and was wondering if this is common, rare, or not that big a deal.



I read somewhere that sometimes male flowers have yellow flowers, but these look like females to me.

Any info on them would be appreciated,

Hi,

I just noticed this plant flowering and fruiting for the first time. The flowers fell off after trying to get a better look at them, but they were small, yellow, sweet-smelling flowers.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Delicious, no-smell papaya, but small...

Sorry for reusing the same image from a different thread, but wanted to see if anyone knew what type of papaya this is. It's a very sweet, seedless, non-smelly, but small (grapefruit-sized) fruit.

Also, any ideas as to the seedless part? I read that this is most likely due to being females with no pollination, but usually the flavor is subpar on those, Not the case on this one.

I just tasted some Sea grapes for the first time and thought they had a pretty interesting and distinctive flavor. Something like tamarind, but not as sour. Once they get a little overripe they take on a musky flavor which is still OK, but definitely may put some people off.

Seems like you can do a decent wine with them.

Anyone know how long these take to fruit from seed? I know they are dioecious.

"Uses: The fruits are sold in local markets for the sweet mesocarp. Men and boys often lop off a fruit bunch while paddling to and and from their favorite fishing spots, heading off to hunt, or on their way to tend their crops. Women and girls also pick the fruits when they encounter groves of the palm near their crops. A midsized palm to about 6 m (20 ft.) tall that produces slender, canelike, spiny trunks that are densely clustering and sometimes form extensive colonies. The plumose leaves have mildly clustering leaflets. It is widespread and common over most of Amazonian South America in wet, seasonally flooded areas."

The flowers are used in the traditional Mexican drink called tejate.

A friend of mine is going to Going Bananas this weekend to pick up some banana plants. I'd like to know which varieties of banana are considered the best tasting for fresh eating. I hear good things about Kru and dwarf Cavendish.

I already have a manzano and a Hua Moa, by the way...

Any info would be appreciated.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Questions on caimito...

This is the first year that my caimito tree fruits. I've got about 20 decent-sized fruits on there now. They are looking much larger than ones I've tried before, these are averaging about 3 inches diameter. Is this size about normal for South Florida? Also, how do I know if I've got a green or purple caimito? Or better said, are the fruits green on both and then the purple change color right before maturing? Or does the purple form start out as purple?
