I have always tasted only the "white" Guava...the Pink has a very different flavour ?

My Plant start flowering this year, I'm in zone 7b-8a and now temperature are becoming cold....i think it won't ripen, within a month they'll be put inside home.

I am growing the honeymoon guava. I got the plant May 4th of this year . It bloomed upon receiving it but the fruit fell off. Shortly afterwards it bloomed again and set 10-12 fruits. They are still on the plant now. I couldn't find much information about it so I contacted the seller and she told me that the fruit usually get to about the size of a key lime. She also said that the flavor is amongst the best she had ate . Upon hearing this, I am hopeful that it lives up to the hype 😋 . I had a really good crop of  white Indian this past couple of months. I hope that the honeymoon are at least as tasty as these were.

Pinks have more complex flavor, I find them far superior.

ive been reading this thread with much interest, as i love guava
and want a couple more.
i have several growing from seed, and also the red and yellow strawberry guava
which have flowers on them now, but havent tasted the fruit yet.

also a purple dwarf (Psidium myrtoides?) from here...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Purple-Dwarf-Guava-Araza-Psidium-myrtoides-Rare-Tropical-Fruit-Tree-Seedling-/121796060124

i have a larger guava plant that gives me very good fruit
the plant came from south Texas at an open market.
(probably originally from Mexico),
has creamy soft flesh, but someone told me they dont think it is  Mexican cream... ???

can someone ID this ??

ive been  reading a lot about varieties, and the 3 that stick out are
"Allahabad Safeda", Crystal and Pearl.

Egyptian white, and  Indian Red seem to be liked much as well...

"Allahabad Safeda" seems very hard to get in the states
and i am in New Orleans, so i would need a nursery that ships.

so, i was thinking of getting some scions from GRIN...
http://www.ars.usda.gov/main/docs.htm?docid=18518&pf=1&cg_id=0

also, there are a couple of orange varieties...
http://theworkofgodschildren.org/collaboration/index.php?title=File:Guavas_-_Psidium_guajava_-_Gema_de_Doro_068.jpg

i actually tried getting jujube wood from them, but it never arrived.

i have seeds (and seedlings) for Psidium acutangulum  /Para Guava
which i have read good things about... (although some say very acid, but that may be a mis-ID)
a couple of people swear its much better than regular guava.
http://tropical.theferns.info/viewtropical.php?id=Psidium+acutangulum
 germination takes 2-4 months.

and Psidium guineense / Brazilian Guava
http://tropical.theferns.info/viewtropical.php?id=Psidium+guineense
Daley's has an interesting photo  and description...

I finally have an in-ground guava tree, lol. It is a seedling Taiwanese emperor guava and I grafted my friend's yellow super aromatic soft guava onto it. (idk after how many tries before one took. guava surely hates grafting). Both flowered this year but I did not let them fruit. Maybe next year!! :D

I planted this year Rubt Supreme guava and it offered 6 large fruits in the first three months, very fragment fruit, few seeds and sweet pink flesh, growing very fast as well.

I grow red Malaysian and a strange orange beaumont seedling. The red was a bit of a disappointment but the orange is fantastic. I've also had the small pink mexican and cream mexican, both are good, the pink was really nice. The seedless whites are a little boring for me, kinda like an apple or pear, doesn't really have the tropical attraction as the seeded ones. I can't wait for my beaumont to come back in season.

Fyi, the orange beaumont was a Durlings purchase by way of a local nursery. Durlings plants are usually much larger and better quality than the La Verne variety. Almost all guavas sold commercially are seedlings. They usually come close to the parent, though my orange one obviously didn't turn out pink or red.

do you by any chance sell scions off that orange fleshed one?
