Along with taking a while to fruit the tree won't grow true from seed.
My brother planted a tree around 10 years ago and it hasn't fruited yet,
in the meantime try to get a tree that was air layered and/or plant out 20 seeds and
get some scions and try grafting. I have heard grafting is not easy?

Lots of water and I fertilize with rabbit manure and I mulch heavy and I constantly
add oak leaves. pine needles, coffee grounds and organic material. In our humid summer the
tree constantly flushes new growth. I have used synthetic fertilizer in the past and it cause
leave burn. During the winter I cut back on water 1-2 times a week. I have 2 Kohalas, 1 Sri champoo,
1 biew kiew, and 1 fortune eye. I believe these types need a dry cool winter for fruit set. The fortune eye
is a steady producer so far.

Longan can fruit as quik as five years from seed, they grow fast from seed and if they come from a good cultivar the seedlind is almost always good. Good fruit like chompoo or bk.They fruit much faster from seed than lychee.

I highly doubt a longan fruiting at 5 years from seed, airlayers usually take up to 4 years to fruit.
