Hermaphroditic jackfruit???
« on: December 24, 2017, 08:34:30 PM »

Question- is this a hermaphroditic jackfruit fruitlet? It has been producing fruitlets that look male, but start to form the female exterior spikes from the top down. The brown streaks on it are from me rubbing a male on it to pollinate.

The one in the background is clearly a female. It started off entirely covered in spikes. But it's starting to brown on the outside like a fruit that is mature. Anyone know much about the progression of jackfruit?

I have seen quite a few flowers like this on my trees. They always drop just like a normal male flower. I had a flower that was over 50% female drop.

I'm seeing a couple of those on my berry jack seedling now.  Most do look clearly male or female though.

I found a picture from 2 years ago with a small rim of female that is shedding pollen.
