« on: June 18, 2018, 01:21:12 PM »

Hi folks
Can anyone please help to identify this fruit.
Found it on one of the old plantations in Suriname.
It smells very sweet, a mix of mango and soursop.
Never seen or eten this before.

Thanks

Tree has very attractive foliage,  In the only place I know it grows here, people seek it for medicinal properties,  I know they bathe with it somehow,  never got the details.  online it says its good for some skin conditions so I must assume its used for that purpose.

There are quite a few planted around the Cairns Convention Centre and they never seem to get used by anyone.

Skin flaps eaten in curry.

Chopped and soaked two weeks in alcohol, then that alcohol is applied to arthritic joints for pain relief.

So I'm told.   Never ate nor used.
