Marin, are you selling the Marisa seedling I gave you?! :) In the Spring I want to come by for a jackfruit grafting lesson.

The Marisa seedling I had from that batch of Noel's abius came right up and should ready to plant out in the yard in a year. They were yummy, right?

Don't forget you will need two varieties for pollination...

It is possible that you may not need two. Noel says that his Marissa was fruiting even when it was a solitary tree.

I thought so too, and had this discussion with the folks at Pine Island Nursery from where I bought my first tree. Colleen claimed they were self fruitful.  My solo tree never fruited.  She confirmed her statement in Julia Morton.  However, I bought another seedling just to be sure.  It still took many more years until I got fruit and that was only on the original tree.  The later planted one has still never fruited.  I don't seem to have the Noel Ramos charm with these trees.

They are variable in that regard. Some seem to cross polinate well, others bear heavily as solitary trees, while others still dont care much for the whole fruiting business with or without cross pollination. There are solitary trees here that are heavy bearers. My tree is not among their number and I'm hoping the recently planted seedlings of e4 and z4 will change its attitude. I think the original was a seeding of z2.

Hi Katie, I haven't been on much lately....lots going on! I sprouted the seed from that abui you gave me and it is about 6 inches tall now. I went and bought some more and sprouted a couple more. So I have 3 now, so I could part with one or two :)
Be in touch in the Spring and we can do some grafting! My success rate is really good now!

Sounds great! I also planted a Marisa from that batch, probably the same exact day as you. About 6" tall too. The race to first fruit  is on. :) Look forward to some Springtime grafting!
