An ilama with pale pink flesh fell off.It tasted good. Not quite as sweet as atemoya or sugar apple and it had a slight raspberry taste. It isn't a red genova or Guillermo so I presume that makes it rosendo perez. It is about as seedy as a sugar apple or a little more so. It shows that the top atemoyas that are almost seedless have had the benefit of selection.
One of my ilamas which has vibrant coloured flesh is better than the others. The taste is infused with a rich strawberry flavour.I suspect it is the genuine red genova.
Ilamas with strongly coloured flesh if crossed to orange or red skinned sugar apples might produce impressive offspring. The flesh is certainly eye catching and the juice that come out is really red as well.
