Yikes! A monster ST. Never saw one that big. You must get a patent on it and get richer than the Zill ops
Congratulations!

I first hand witnessed it last week and I told Frank that there is no way its sweet tart, then we chased the branch and it on same branch as others. it is a true sport.

Also, Frank, that Peach cobbler doesn't look like one as peach cobbler never turns yellow that much.

Zand, there are a lot of new varieties coming out of California in the coming yrs

Good to know and good luck. Your dry air and intense sun will be  major factors in being able to grow mangoes that would fail in humid Florida.

Not sure if I should keep pruning the rootstock suckers or let them grow with an eye for the future.

Good stuff

You should probably cut all the rootstock suckers.  The bud sport(s) that they are referring to do not emanate directly from the rootstock.

I had witnessed this mango. It is huge. Reminds me of venus size.

It is possible that ST is a sport.
Also, last year's senyorita was an awesome mango.

U are doing a good job growing your trees.

I had one amarpali from my yard 3 yrs ago, fruit was amazingly sweet and floral, very unique and brix was 28. that branch eventually died and I am growing it in two other spots, seems to be very slow grower for me.

I also had the opportunity to take one from Frank this year, although fruits were undeveloped, they tasted exceptional. quality of fruit will only get better as it matures.

Best to evaluate the budwood grown out before concluding it is unique. ST is know to vary considerably in size. Sometimes they are fist sized, others are like small melons.

Yah, JF you should graft out a tree and eval it.

You might get unique size ST or you might get  "regression to the mean"   Look that up if you have not heard this expression.  Odds are regression but for sure your graft is worth a try.
