Mango: when to pick Alampur Banishan

It says: "THEY ARE BEST HARVESTED MATURE GREEN AND RIPENED AT ROOM TEMPERATURE LIKE THE MALLIKA."

But how to tell  it is mature green and ready to harvest? For the last 2 seasons the small tree gave only one fruit per year and I picked a little late and the taste was not as good as described. One large and two small this year. Flowered in early April, SoCal.

How "small" is the tree?  In ground or pot?

As for determining "mature green"...that is tough to describe in a post.  You will see a slight color change but really takes experience with monitoring your own tree and even experiment with timing.  Also very tough to do with only one or two fruits.

The tree was on ground about 4 or 5 years ago but only 1" dia trunk and 24" tall bushy. I took some pic today. The big fruit not 100% exposed to sun and green (with 2 Argentinean ants herding a bug used as ruler scale) and the smaller has a little yellow tint. I bent the fruit about 60 degrees and the stem didn't snap, so let them on tree.

For comparison, a Glenn was planted one year later and now with 3.5" dia trunk and 12' tall.
