Citrus Buy, Sell, & Trade / Re: Budwood trade anyone?
« on: July 14, 2023, 04:25:52 PM »
A few years ago Bright leaf nursery was selling a round green Australian lime. I don't see them listed on their web site anymore. I bought a 3 gallon tree at a local nursery though (don't remember which one). Never seen them since.

My favorites are Minneola variegated ( less acid than regular one), Dekopon,  Sunbokan lemon (tastes like sweet lemonade), Meiwa sweet Kumquat  and Centennial variegated (when ripe, not green, love the taste), Pineapple orange.

You can find Hirado Buntan pumelo at Lowe's or HDepot. That's where I got mine and see them for sale every time I check these stores.

Galka, where did you find the Taiwanese white and the Peruvian white?

Does anyone have an Egyptian guava? Does the white flesh or yellow flesh taste better?
Walmart had the Taiwanese white for sale last year. The Peruvian white - at the local plant sale.

Taiwanese white.

I have a Taiwanese guava that I like a lot. It has seeds but not many. Sweet and crispy.  Peruvian white was very good. Creamy/sweet like Mexican cream.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Help!! Guava tree leaves are dry

Guava trees do this if you keep them inside. Mine are doing the same when I overwinter them in my house. They drop leaves and put new growth after. Just don't over water your guava thinking it's thirsty. It will recover.

I have three fruiting trees.  One of them weeping and more productive so far.  The fruits are a bit different in shape and big.

Citrus General Discussion / Re: Giant Finger Lime QQs . . .

I posted pictures on this forum before I think. They will turn yellow and look nicer than the ones from the link above,  those pictures are mine by the way. I liked the taste but I can't compare to the red or green regular finger limes, never tasted them. I will post a picture of ripe yellow giant finger limes if I find it. My tree almost died this spring, just started to come back, so no new pictures of fruit, sorry.

I'd say it's a White Jade.

I guess I got lucky. The one I bought at Publix was smaller and slightly giving. I left it on a counter for a few days till it started to smell and got softer. Turned out delicious.  It was about 10 pounds for $0.99 per pound.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Malaysian Red Guava Ripening

I have two varieties, Malaysian and Thai red. The trees look similar but fruits are different outside and inside. Both taste good, although I like the Thai better. I pick them when they become fragrant, the skin changes color and they are falling to your hand or in the bag. If you live the fruit on the counter it will start to spoil.  Better to eat it after picking. That is my experience.

Han Sen, I received my package yesterday. Very happy with the order. Everything looks nice and fresh. Thank you so much!

I have Thai and Asian guava trees. Thai was tasteless the first year and got better the next. It needs to stay on a tree to get fully ripe. Asian... I don't know yet. Sets a lot of fruits, bigger in size but fruits get ugly closer to ripening.

I have sowme Crystal airlayers rooting out right now.  ;)  I’ll probably put them in the sale section later or maybe throw one up on eBay to see how it does.
I'd like to get one from you. Also need to airlayer mine. How long they take to root?

It sounds like the one unknown variety I grow and I really liked the fruit. The best tasting very juicy.
