Tropical Fruit Discussion / will loquat survive if cut in half ?
« on: April 26, 2018, 11:29:49 AM »
I have 2 loquat trees that are getting too tall in my container gardening. I would like to cut it in half to make it 1/2 the height but this will also remove the whole canopy. Does anyone have experience in doing this and will it survive ? Thanks.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Cherry of rio grande
« on: April 24, 2018, 11:58:32 PM »
Excalibur has this cherry in a 3 gallon about 2 feet tall. How many years would I expect to wait for fruiting at this size ? I would pay more for a 7 gallon but all they have is a 3 gallon.

I'm searching for the Changshou or Fukushu kumquat tree to buy but haven't seen them at the nurseries in central and south florida. Most of them have the more popular Meiwa and Nagami type. Does anyone know of a nursery in Florida that has Changshou (Fukushu ) ? I'm willing to drive 3-4 hours for pick up.

I just moved to Florida and been buying fruit trees at places like Lowes, Home Depot, and some of the local nurseries. I notice that all of them have some green pellet fertilizer on them and would like to buy some if possible. I asked one of the garden helper at Home Depot and he said that the green pellets were in there when it was shipped to Home Depot so he didn't know.
