2-n-1 kumquat

I have a meiwa/nagami 2 in 1 tree and one of the two has taken off, while the other is slowing dying! Any thoughts as to why this may be happening and what I can do to save it?

Multi grafts on citrus are never a good idea. They do not grow with the same vigor.

I agree with Riverland's reply.  When there are more than one variety grated upon a citrus tree, an unbalanced growth of the various grafts is a common problem. - Millet

I have multigrafted apple and cherry trees and I agree that it doesn't work well.  It's nice for extra pollination but both trees are almost entirely one variety now and grow goofy

And if you like kumquats pick up a fukushu/changshou they are really tasty and the trees look great

Thank you all for your replies! It is unfortunate the graft will dye! I was looking forward to a 2n1 because my wife loves Nagami, but it is way too sour for me!

I wonder which of the two is dying? The one with the thinner, longer leaves is thriving!!!

Went back and found a post by Brian where he informed me the Meiwa is the shorter leaf and th nagami is the longer one.

Seems the nagami is thriving! That means my wife wins yet again

I can't see your pictures clearly but I've had trees recover from being completely defoliated.   If the stems are still green you should get new leaves. 

Hope it works out for you, kumquats are a lot of fun to grow.

robbyhernz if i was you i wood pinch back the stronger growing one to put more in the weaker one...
