Hej Tomas,
I got 3 good-sized plants, and the foliage and flowers is truly beautiful on this species!

They look very much like kepels with the colour of new growth and foliar characteristics making you do a double take to ckeck identity.Kepels are a little more erect in growth form and the new leaves are a bit more vivid.

Hi Soren,

Is hand-pollination necessary for Theobroma grandiflorum? I am asking because I have a 6-year old Theobroma cacao and it's flowed for a few years but never fruited.

Hi Tomas,
I seem to remember several Theobroma spp. exhibit limited self pollination capacity, and if you in addition don't have pollinators then I would surely try it out.!

tomas, some cacao types, but not all, are self sterile, so it's good to plant 2 or more plants close together. I think same holds true for cupuasu (T. grandiflorum).

Thanks Soren and Oscar,

I will keep 3 plants myself then to be on the safe side.

Hello Natalie,

I am sorry to say that I don't have any more Theobroma grandiflorum seeds. But Montoso Gardens in Puerto Rico (www.montosogardens.com) will have them later this year (November).
