Porcelia Nitidifolia

(1/1)

Fruit Monster:

Hello.

Does anyone have any information about this fruit Porcelia Nitidifolia? It's sold by Jim West in Ecuador but there's no information about it on his website.
Does anyone know what size tree or vine it grows on? is it Diocious? etc etc.

Thankyou.

sahai1:
looks delicious!

Guanabanus:
That species has been a Holy Grail Quest for many of os for decades!   This is the first photo that I have seen.

fruitlovers:
I have a few small plants growing. They are easy to germinate. Have never had the fruit. This is the information Jim sent me with the seeds:

large fast-growing tree, fruits 10-15 cm x 8 cm, plenty of sweet aromatic pulp

I would guess it is self pollinating, otherwise he would have usually noted that it's not.
Will try to get more specific information from him.

Thanks Oscar. That's good information. I'll be sure to give it plenty of space in the orchard if Jim says it's a big tree.
