Climate warm and wet.

salacca edulis (looks like affinis but smaller) sweet and sour


Salacca or Eleiodoxa conferta (Asam paya) very sour


Stelechocarpus burahol (kepel) so good !!!


Myrciaria vexator


Mangifera pajang (Mawang or embawang) huge mago with a champedak smell !


Talisia esculenta (African breadfruit)


Garcinia nitida (Buah kandis)


Diospyros diepenhorstii...fibrous but interesting

Very nice.  I’m trying kepel fruit from seed (fruitlovers Nursery) for the second time.  Might be too cold here in this part of Fl..

Did you try the garcinia nitida?

Yes it's a little bit like Garcinia forbesi and Garcinia parvifolia but may be the labelling was not good because few year ago in Kuching I tasted Kandis (Garcinia nitida) and the fruit was yellow and sour. That's the problem in this country the scientifics names may change if you're are in Sabah or in Sarawak (not a lot correlation between the specialists). It's the same thing with the labelling of Salacca edulis (I think it's a kind of affinis)

Actually I lost part of my salak in a in a landslide but I had already begun planting more and it is coming along nicely.
Yes, I wasn’t impressed with the salak at Tenom.
I have several garcinia germinated from Tenom and I’m trying to decide about planting. The forbesii I collected was sweet but it came from the peninsula. Lots of fruits!
