Wow, that cooler looks nice!

What are you going to do with all of them?

Also, what size and how old is your tree? Trying to get an idea of the production I should be seeing from my trees?

I had to leave a bunch on the tree, they were lass than ripe so I'll go back in a few days. I got it from Jeff (cookie monster) in 2011 as an ~4' bush. It's still a bush ~7' tall but very full. Every year it's produced more and more.

Aside from eating them while I was picking them, my GF is from Italia and finds uses for fruit you wouldn't believe. She will likely make some pies, or perhaps a liqueur,  most will be eaten by us and neighbors.

Is the tree in the ground or in a pot?

It's been in the ground since 2011. I have another smaller sabara in ground since 2014 and I'm still waiting on this one. The red, blue and grimal are growing slowly.

Thanks for the info. Seems yours has really settled in, hope the others follow suit soon!

Mine (3 years in ground) is around that size, but not getting 20+lbs. Well done.

I don't know if it helped or hurt, but I planted in in the remains of a mound left by a robotic root grinder. There once stood a robellini and a  queen palm there. The root grinder was spectacular, its long snout like grinder went around 4' down. I threw soil in the hole to level it, watered it, and keep a lot of natural leaf mulch there, once what I planted there took off I haven't needed to feed or water there much.

That tree was roughly 5 - 6 years old when planted if memory serves. So that would make it a ripe 14 or so years old.

The sabara takes about 6 years to start fruiting. I've found that mine produce a lot more (and more frequently -- nearly year round) if given ample nitrogen. They also like a lot of water.

Awesome harvest! I can’t wait for my trees to start producing in large numbers. I make a lot of wine with my excess fruit.

How do you give your jabo trees nitrogen? I remember you saying osmocote once?

Yep. Jabo can be salt sensitive. I use slow release only, the 8-2-12 that Truly Tropical carries. It's about 90% slow release nitrogen.

On another note, I seem to remember you froze jabo with success? If so how did you do it?

Just toss them in the freezer. They're actually good frozen.

My jaboticaba is twenty years old

Transplanted once and topped a couple times. Just took the fruit off and it’s already putting on new fruit

How do you prune your jabos. I have a pretty tall sabara with many small thin branches. I would like to see an ideal tree on how it should be pruned

About 12 ft tall after topping.  Five total, 3 black 1 red and 1white

Fruit will be on limbs so clear room to get your hands in to pick.
