Hi there.  Do you offer local pickup for folks in South FLorida?

2
Just received my order, extremely well packed and labeled.  Great seller!

Has anyone heard from Adhyt recently?  I paid for a seed order about a month ago and haven't heard from him since then.  Wondering if anyone else has had any luck.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / NDM Mango leaf discoloration
« on: April 17, 2018, 08:26:54 AM »
Hey Guys,

My 2 year old grafted NDM (got it from Fairchild at the Mango festival last year) is showing some discoloration and drying on its new growth leaves.  Not sure what might be causing it, but I definitely am looking for a way to stop it.  Pictures included.  Anyone seen this before and know what it is?  Thanks!

Despite the ineptitude of the USPS, my seeds arrived as well and have been bathed in GA.  Thanks Raul!

Looks like it was a great day for it and that you guys had a great time.  I wish I could have joined you.  How did the large greenhouse in the back hold up to the storm?  When I was last there a few months back they were browing Rambutan, amongst other ultra tropicals, in there.  Just wondering if it held up ok.

I bought a 6 inch high miracle fruit about 2 years ago and immediately repotted it into a 25 gallon ceramic pot using 100% sphagnum moss.  It has flourished with little attention and about 50/50 rain water/hose water (hose water PH defintely above 7).  I recently threw some sulpher pellets into the soil and it flushed with new growth (nothing measured, just a handfull).   I leave it in full sun so it's more of a bush than a tree, but it appears very healthy and gives fruit just about year round.  At the moment there's another little plant growing under the main plant from a fallen fruit.  I'll be giving it its own home here soon and plan to use the same method.  Good luck and safe travels!

Update - I began increasing the volume and frequency of the watering I was doing on the tree and today walked out to find a deep red fruit!  It must have been camoflauged amongst the leaves prior to maturation.  My first fruit from this tree and pretty tasty.  Looks like patience is a virtue with these guys!

Thanks guys.  I thought I'd been giving it enough water by deep watering it every third day or so, but it sounds like that probably isn't enough.  The blooms look a little desiccated.  You're right, it has been very dry.  I just threw down a fair bit of sulpher, but that's probably too late as well.  Hopefully I get a Miami thunderstorm in the next few days as I'm out of town all weekend!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Grumichama fruit set
« on: April 18, 2017, 04:35:58 PM »
Hello all,

I have a 3 yr old grumichama and it's not setting fruit well.  Last year it put out about 25 flowers, 1 fruit set and fell off before maturity.  This year, it has put out about 60 flowers and fruit set is non-existent at this point.  I'm curious, has anyone tried hand pollinating a grumichama and if so, how is it done?

Thanks!

Marty

I definitely want a box when they're available.  Should I send payment first to ensure I get a box?

My seeds have all germinated.  The first to pop up already have shoots that are about 4 inches tall.

I can't agree more with the posts regarding keeping this tree away from others if you plan to put it in the ground.  They grow extremely quickly and aggressively.  They do fruit well and in abundance, but I find I lose a lot to the squirrels and birds.  I have two planted in close proximity to one another and I'm definitely removing 1 after only two years in the ground, maybe both.  They're both already over 25 feet tall.  They were about 5 feet tall when planted.

Thanks for the speedy delivery and great seeds Vitor!  Extra seeds are always appreciated.  I'll be hard pressed not to order more in the very near future to fuel my addiction.

I'd be interested in solutions for removing this pest as well.  I've found a few on my Jackfruit and they took a toll on an Abiu I eventually had to dispose of.  I believe they're Croton scales.

Really great recommendations and information, thanks guys!

Can anyone recommend a good soil testing kit?

I'd be interested in Pitomba as well.  Can't seem to find them anywhere.  Thanks Adam!
