Tropical fruit fiesta at Grimal Grove

We are having a mango/tropical fruit fest at Grimal Grove in Big Pine Key in the Florida Keys June 27th. There will be a kid activities, presentations, tours, fruit tasting and fruit auction.

  I will post more as I get more info from Patrick. Hope to see some of you there!

Sounds wonderful! I have been telling my neighbors about Grimal Grove, and they have been wanting to check it out. This might be the time! I'll let them all know about the event.

I hope someone associated with Grimal Grove will consider writing a piece on it for the local newspapers, including the Upper Keys paper (keysnet.com). They could get a lot more local support if more people knew about them - many people in the Upper Keys are into projects like these. Also, does the Garden Club of the Upper Keys know about them? If not, there might be another source of local support, and likely volunteer hours in the garden.

Someone should be sure to get this event on all the local community calendars.

I will talk to Patrick Garvey about sending the press releases to the papers in the upper keys, I think right now he is just in the lower keys papers.

The Big Pine and the Key West garden clubs and the UF extension office are involved right now.

We really haven't had many people from the upper keys come by. The Grove is open every Saturday and we can use all the volunteers we can get!

I doubt they know it exists. Of the people I mentioned it to, not a single one had ever heard of it, but several were interested in visiting once I told them.
