Best place to buy citrus trees in South FL?
« on: September 12, 2020, 07:58:15 PM »
Hi friends,
i am looking for citrus varieties that are relatively resistant to citrus greening. Have heard good about kumquat, finger lime and sugar belle mandarin so far. Any tips on where i can drive to pickup, anywhere from Homestead to West palm Beach will be good. I am looking for 1g or 3g plants.
Thanks,
Satya

I know I said before briteleaf, which I REALLY recommend their trees. Very good for what you pay! Otherwise the only other FL nursery I know of is Harris Citrus, which is also a very reputable nursery. I believe they are in the Orlando? area though but they ship.

Thank you Frank, due to high demand during Covid both nurseries have kumquat sold out, i wrote to them to inform me once they have those in stock.

Check your local Lowes/Homedepot. Surprisingly enough they sometimes carry rarer citrus. Excalibur fruit trees also has a good selection.

Our homedepot had nothing special, had 15g cocktail citrus trees that won't do well after 2-3 months from bringing because there they have it on systemics...they probably ran out of other citruses due to high demand during Covid. I will check Excalibur next. I ordered a Sugar belle from Briteleaf, let's see how it arrives. Thanks

Guys, thank you very much for recommending Briteleaf. The plant came in excellent condition. So much so i had to make a video so that other friends know how they pack. I had posted it in another theead in tropical fruit discussion but the admin there seems to not like me :) lol..here is a short video on how i received the plant : https://youtu.be/sNbqH8BOgkE

I was the person that also ordered from briteleaf and also ordered from backyardcitrus. I believe you’ll have a great experience with them if you liked briteleaf.

I've been very happy with Briteleaf and Just Fruits and Exotics, both in FL.

Also give my vote to briteleaf brought from them twice and never been disappointed excellent plants.
Just ask for amber :)
Even their bush cutting were really nice. I also heard good things about Harris citrus but have not tried them yet.
