When are Monroe avocados ready to be picked?
« on: October 08, 2018, 10:19:46 AM »
First year with fruit on our Monroe tree. I have no idea when it's time or how to tell when it's time to pick Florida avocados. Any insight?

According to the Official Schedule  November 5 is the first date to pick.  26oz minimum and 4 3/16 size. I particularly like to wait for my own consumption to a week before Thanksgiving.  This is Homestead, as you go north you may have to add a few days.  This year is a bit strange as I have seen some Oro Negro beginning to turn dark earlier than before, and my Monroes are huge and seen some fruit drop.

Thanks for asking Scott. Hard to say because hurricane damage you don't see right away as recent as yesterday I cut a large branch of a tree caused by damage 13 months ago.
But to answer your question 60% of the trees suffered mayor damage about 7 % dead so far.
I'm just now beginning to catch up with all the hurricane work that had to be done
