Ben's Plants (a wonderful source for plants and fruit, in CA)
« on: November 30, 2012, 01:48:39 PM »
Ben has my vote for being one of the best sources for plants, seeds, scions, and even fruit.

He's been a real pleasure to do business with.

Here is the link to his site.

http://encantofarms.com/poirier.html

Ben doesn't know I put this little advertisement up.  I just had to do it because it's so easy, and it could help Ben and a fruit collector out!

I think you'll find something you "must have" in Ben's amazing collection.  I have found about 10 plants at least.
 ;)

Sincerely,

ASaffron

I agree. Ben is a good guy and has a lot of really cool, rare plants. I even asked him to join the forum, guess he's still thinking about it, or maybe too busy on his farm.

It's actually BEN'S SUBTROPICAL FRUITING PLANTS ... Encanto Farm is all Jon Verdick's (webebananas & figs4fun).  Ben's page is just an extension within Jon's Encanto Farm page.

I do, however, agree both Ben & Mary Poirer are some of the nicest folks to do business with.  Very honest & generous folks... on top of their plant selections ;D

Ben is super nice guy. I've spoken with him on the phone and in person at the Green scene at the Fullerton arboretum....he sells nice green sapotes and lucuma trees.

He has Lucuma as Pouterua obovata on his site...shouldn't it be Pouteria lucuma (or I believe formerly known as, or a synonym for, Lucuma obovata)...

not sure, but I know he can grow cherimoya, and the lucuma for higher altitudes (de seda)

they taste amazing...I believe I posted a pic of the fruits I got from him.

best in milkshake or bread

it probably just a synonym.

Hello Friends,

I too can attest to Ben's personality.  He is a great guy, very friendly, and very honest.  He is absolutely a joy to do business with and an all around neat guy.  I would totally recommend doing business with him.  His wife Mary makes a killer Jam with Davidson's Plums.
