If it weren't for this plant pacific islanders would have been very cold. Most of their clothing and bedding, as well as many ornaments, were made from this plant, usually called tapa, and the product is called tapa cloth. Tapa cloth is still made and used in Tonga, Samoa, and Fiji Islands.
