Mystery cherimoya
« on: August 15, 2019, 09:46:55 PM »
I got this cherimoya from exotica nursery in vista California.  Steve said that this is a very good cherimoya and it was grown from seed.  I got the tree two years ago when it was still a seedling.  It fruits is not like a cherimoya and not like an atemoya.  If i can pick your brain at what this can be please let me know.  All comments are welcome.

In what way is it different? We can compare it to Big Sister this fall.

I once bought a "cherimoya" from a stand at the pinecrest garden farmers market in Miami and it turned out to be a Pond apple aka swamp apple. The inside was yellowish not white. The taste was poor. I am currently raising a chrimoya seedingling that I got from Pinar del Rio Cuba!!

Can you post a picture of the leaves?

Like you said, it’s a seedling and I’ve seen Cherimoya fruit look like that before.

Probably just a seedling Cherimoya like Steve said. If the leaves are oval or round, it’s probably just a Cherimoya. If it’s more pointy and slender, it could be Atemoya or Annona Hybrid.

Looks like Cherimoya leaf or at least a hybrid that shows a lot of Cherimoya in the phenotype of the leaves.
