Cosmic Crisp apple
« on: December 01, 2019, 04:20:26 AM »
So, what’s the story on this new variety? The big news in Oz is that it can keep for up to 12 months in the fridge😳😳😳😳. Only being grown in Washington State for the next 10 years with 12 million planted already. Must be good.

And a McDonald's cheeseburger can stay in a cupboard for 10 years. When microbes aren't interested in food, that's generally a bad sign for nutritional worth (or toxicity).

This apple sounds like good news for the grocery chains, not so much for the home gardener.

Eugenia luschnathiana = CURUIRI.    Talisia esculenta = PITOMBA
I do not recommend people deal with Fruit Lovers, Prisca Mariya or Fernando Malpartida

Apples can already be stored for a year or more in specific conditions not available to general consumers (low oxygen + cold).  I assume this would help grocery stores and consumers.  I've tried every type of apple available and Pink Lady/Cripps Pink is still the best, though the new Sweet Tango type is very good too.

Your grocery store apples are already over a year old when you buy them.
