Gauvas in Season
« on: September 23, 2012, 07:28:57 PM »
It started in late Aug. with my Tropical Pink and now I have 3 to 4 varieties dropping. The first TP were horrible but they are getting better. We don't put any to waste we either juice them or make guava marmalade, paste or shells. Here are pics of the different varieties and homemade marmalade. BTW, you eat this with cream cheese, queso fresco or you can put it in plain yogurt......absolutely delicious!

Tropical Pink, Malaysian Red and Hong Kong Pink

Not a big fan of fresh guava but i love all of the guava preparations.  The red one looks interesting.  Where did you get it from? I wonder if it would be any more resistant to our fruit flies than our other guavas.

I have a small yellow pear shaped 3 cm fruiting fruiting now ,  one of the best I ever tasted , 2 nd fruiting this year , only had a few fruits the first time the rest disappeared , probably one of the workers liked them also . Wondering what variety it is . Can post a pic later when ripe .

La Verne propagate it but I think I purchase it at a nursery in Vista call Clausens. I like the taste, a bit flowery and seedy though. It's a good crunchy guava also - I let it ripe and fall off the tree. It has that intense guava flavor and aroma I wouldn't think it would be more resistant to fruit flies than any other guava.
