South Florida October weather
« on: October 26, 2019, 12:19:15 PM »
Extremely hot. Nighttime lows 10 degrees above historical average for an extended period of time now.

Seeing a lot of late growth flushes emerging, which could mean a depressed mango crop in southeast Florida in 2020 due to reduced flowering in December/January/February.

Great growing weather though, I hear the rain is keeping up with the warmer temps.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Yup, the rain in combination with the heat makes it feel like August again.
I'm getting new flushes again on some of my tree.

Seems like an early crop is not happening. Hoping for a January boom.

Lots of flushing in my yard.  New grafts are going gangbusters.  But I am afraid of another fruitless year.  It's way too warm and humid.

That's surprising, mine always did best (even though the fruit had fruit fly infestation and scale on the branches) when the weather was warm.

After a weak fruiting on an established Ugly Betty last year, I saw one cluster of flowers in the upper interior today, not spraying, not expecting much.

11:30AM at a kids' soccer game today here in Sarasota was brutal, felt like July. Mango trees still flushing, weeds still flourishing. I heard we finally fell below 70 last night for the first time in nearly 200 days....

East central, my mango trees have a new flush also. This past year was not good for any
of the mango trees in my area fruit wise. I was talking to this old guy that live around the corner
and he said it was acid rain that caused it? Never heard that one before...

I'll kiss the ground if this happens!  Ain't gonna happen.  (I'd love to see iguanas falling from trees.)

Looks like the hair dryer that had been blowing on San Diego finally got turned off this morning.

Has weather improved in Florida?

And just like that, from 1% humidity for over a week to dew point in just the course of a day.

Yes!  Better weather's on the way.  We got about 3-4 inches of rain in Deerfield yesterday as a freak storm cell sat over us for over an hour.

At 3:10 this morning the temp fell to yesterday's low of 63, within 20 minutes and despite the buffer of the thick fog, the temp fell to 50 F.

Starting to feel like Autumn.
