Santol variety Pui Fai is very large with a lot of flesh and deliciously sweet .When harvesting those i can't stop eating them.they can be the size of large grapefruit. : )

How does it taste?crisp taste, slight sweet taste, almost like a minty flavor? i'm not that good at describing flavors. but no it does not taste like papaya or banana. ha ha. jk.
I use straight washed coco coir in sealed containers until seeds germinate and move them into a potting medium post germination.agreed. short term solution until you have space/time to grow out.
The APHIS Seed Import Permit I have is pretty clear that hand carry is not allowed. I have posed the question to APHIS if there is a different type of permit that would permit hand carry. As others have noted, the air shipment transit points can be in really cold places, so winter shipping is riskier. It would be great if I could hand carry back to Hawaii with my permit, surrender the seeds to CBP so that they could give them to APHIS for inspection. That way, minimal time in transit. Alas, doesn't seem to be doable.
i have had S. American stuff sent from Brazil-> France-> Belgium-> JFK-LA-> HNL and still ok. But SE asia stuff. they dont' seem to like it as much.
Sorry for a side topic but how did you receive stuff from Brazil? Was it sneaky packages or legit? I haven’t bothered trying to sell and ship anything because I assume the process was too crazy to be worth it.

Yknow, that really is a huge concern. I had SE Asia seeds go thru freakin Cincinnati in January; I have fingers crossed that they weren't damaged. I dunno what is the answer. I guess I could go over myself with my seed permit, although I am not entirely sure that US Customs would permit that.
My experiences with buying seeds has been a mixed bag, but the one seller who has earned my trust is Maryoto. His seeds germinate at greater percentages than seeds I have acquired from other vendors, including some who are very well-established. I do think that acquiring often-recalcitrant tropical seeds is a fairly risky endeavor simply because of distance and logistics. Particularly for me, since I only buy SE Asian-species seeds. For American buyers, the process requires someone who is educated in and can navigate the U.S. small seed lot import permit. Maryoto has proven himself to be that person repeatedly.
