I am currently growing one, they do very well in San Diego. Unfortunately the one that I have ( grown from a seed) is pretty much inedible. Extremely tannic and tart until the fruits are fall off the tree ripe then they have a slight plum like flavor but are so astringent that I cannot eat them.
If there is someone out there with a superior variety I would love to get some scions and convert my tree over to something useful.
