This will be my first time in India. Doing some research and came across 2 separate dates. Is anyone else going or have gone can give me a reputable site to refer to? Also stoping in Thailand and possibly Vietnam on this trip. Would love any tip on where to get some fruit as well! Thank you!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Anyone growing cherimoya in northern Florida?
« on: September 02, 2015, 12:28:12 PM »
My grandfather left me a little bit of land in crawfordville when he died and I was wondering what to do with it. Small house with an orchard would be my first thought but I had no idea what to grow that was rare or different. after looking at the climate today cherimoya might be perfect but I can't remember  hearing from anyone in that area on here. Is anyone up there? *knocks on monitor*

Looking for either a grafted little guy of a quality variety or seeds/seedlings of the same. I'm in long beach California and would prefer local pickup. Thank you 😊

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Annona squamosa seed viability length
« on: August 05, 2015, 06:50:02 PM »
Hey everyone,
I found some squamosa seeds I want to order but need some info. Given its so late in the season should I wait until spring to start them? Do they have a similar shelf life to cherimoya? Should I just start them when I get them?

Thank you

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Jackfruit seedlings doing awesome

Wooohoooo! Haha I'm aware that these hate to be transplanted. I was planning on leaving them in here for another season until root bound then plopping in the ground some where. Sound like a successful idea?

Moved to long beach recently and just started plopping trees in the ground haha
First were the jaboticabas.(last pics)  I had one and my partner purchased one a few months back so.... His and his jabos hahaha then a giant fuyu persimmon(second pic)
Then yesterday day I removed this giant ugly ficus and replaced it with my little el bumpo cherimoya( first pic)

I still have a lot of cypress trees and jasmin to destroy to make room for more. Can't wait to make this backyard and edible forest!!!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Cherimoya seedling reoccuring problem
« on: March 14, 2015, 02:50:23 PM »

This has happened to most of the cherimoya seeds I sprout. Germinates and then rots/gets munched on at soil line? It been irritating so I've tried to water a little less hoping that would remedy this years batch but clearly it's happening again

Tropical Fruit Discussion / New Manila seedlings
« on: December 17, 2014, 04:49:36 PM »

Picked these up at Home Depot to hopefully graft onto this spring. Both were about 4-4 1/2. One had great branches and the other had the thickest trunk but no branches. I chopped off about a foot of the latter and instaked it. I want to chop off a bit more but am worried about the cool weather. Any how .....excited to experiment this coming season. This form has an amazing archive of knowledge. I love this forum. 😍

Hey everyone
I planted this at a clients 2 weeks ago.... Looked great and healthy. Within days it dropped all its leaves and looks terrible. The branches are still pliable and green. Is there any chance or this guy? I'm assuming it really bad transplant shock. Help?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Keitt mango- about a year later
« on: November 02, 2014, 06:28:10 PM »
Bought this guy for my birthday last year.  Figured it was done for the season so I'll post its growth for te year.
This is the day o planted it

This is now. Only 2 flushes this year.

A little leggy but I expected that from the Keitt. I did not let it hold any fruit last season and won't this year either. After this seasons flowering I really wanted to graft at least one more variety onto it. Enjoy!

About 6 feet tall. I forgot the variety but I remember the guy at papaya tree where I bought it raved about it. $50 or if you have any cool Annonas we might be able to work something out.

Oh yeah and you gotta come dig it up yourself. I over planted and have other priorities in the ground too close. I don't feel like babying it in a pot either. Pm me if you are interested.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / New atemoya tree!
« on: July 04, 2014, 05:23:22 PM »

Picked this up at emily nursery yesterday. The lady highly recommend these trees which were all grafted there and simply named atemoya. She doesn't speak the greatest English so I couldn't get a cultivar name out of her. Has anyone else purchased one of these and have a slight idea of what they could be? The most I could get from her was she said it was an Australian variety but I don't know how concrete that is.
