Hello!
We're currently having some trouble getting our hands on the following fruits in South Florida:
Sugar Apple
Passion Fruit (Purple)
Abiu
Dragon Fruit (Red Skin, Red Flesh)
We hear that Abiu came and went but we're hoping they come back. Any growers in South Florida interested in selling?

Sugar Apple is long gone. I sold 500 pounds August, it was a bad year though. Talk to me next year and I can sell to you.

That's what I keep hearing but I also hear that they can go up to November. If you or anyone you know has any of the fruits above available please do let us know. Willing to pay top dollar.

How much market for those fruits like Caimito, Sugar Apple etc. I'm always trying to investigate alternate crops for my 20 acres in case avocados disappear from Laurel Wilt.

I have never had any problems selling my 30 trees worth of sugar apple crop. The go faster than I can pick them.

Is it difficult keeping sugar apples in good condition between picking and sale? I don't remember how many days they usually take to soften.

Sugar Apples can last a few days until ripe but once they do ripen a gentle breeze can open them up - they're pretty sensitive. If they don't ripen because were cut too early or what not, they make excellent self defense weapons or pet rocks.

David , I guess you don't have that mummifying ( Chalcid fly ) problem where you are or do you bag your fruit ?

I have heard that the problem exists in Miami, but I don't do anything to my sugar apples, I just let them be. I have noticed that there are always a couple of fruits that turn black on the tree, but not enough to be a significant loss. I guess I am lucky?
