right now, I got two new cultivars (released in 2012).

Sweet Sicily® /clementine Comune 2x × Tarocco 4x/

and

Early Sicily® /clementine Oroval 2x × Tarocco 4x/

both can form an anthocyanic pigmentation, in the form of reddish streaks, caused by cold temperatures, in the pulp.

« on: February 28, 2017, 01:27:50 AM »
Last year, 2 or 3 gummosis like flows appeared on the trunk of my garcinia laterifolia. This year many new appeared, also on branches. Is it some infection, or fertilizer  side effect or something different?

Citrus General Discussion / Citrus hassaku
« on: February 23, 2017, 03:42:29 AM »
My first crop of hassaku, it has very nice sweet taste, but also a bitternes in the pulp. It is more bitter than grapefruit and this aspect devalues the overall flavor a bit.

"Epidemiological data, clinical and patological findings of a disease of sheep, characterized by neurological signs are described. The disease occurred in the months of February and March of  2009 to 2013 in the counties of São José do Cerrito and Chapecó in mountainous western region and the state of Santa Catarina and is associated with the falling fruit of "uvaieira" (Eugenia uvalha Cambess). On farms where the outbreaks occurred had lots of fallen fruit on the ground, and the animals consumed avidly. Aiming to evaluate the clinical aspects of the disease and lesional was performed experimental reproduction through the administration of the fruits of uvaia at the daily doses of 45.45 g / kg, 68.18 g / kg and 82.35 g / kg. After 4 to 5 days of consumption of the fruit, intoxicated animals showed intense apathy, salivation, teeth grinding, circling, blindness, incoordination, opisthotonos and seizures, usually followed by death. Those that survived remained with sequelae of the disease, such as intermittent opisthotonos and seizures. There were no macroscopic or histological changes, however, were found the fruit, whole or fragmented mixed on the content of pre-stomachs. The main way to diagnose poisoning "uvaia" is the observation of clinical and epidemiology, associated with the presence of ripe fruit fallen to the ground. "

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Wild strawberry
« on: May 28, 2016, 10:49:39 AM »
Those are the real strawberries of my grandparents.
In the past it was not common to grow strawberry in backyards, there were no big fruited cultivars  such we use to grow now. People just walked to the edge of forest or meadow and collected those miniature fruits of wild strawberry.
Wild strawberry are very aromatic with pleasant taste different to common strawberry.
There are 3 different species in my area:
Fragaria moschata (my fingers to show the size)

Fragaria viridis and
Fragaria vesca

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Annona and GA3 as pollen substitute
« on: December 05, 2014, 05:14:20 AM »
I am not a big fan of unnatural ways of gardening, but my 10 years old seedling of annona muricata in pot is very shy when it comes to flower. It usually produces several flowers one by one with some time delay, so no chance to pollinate it. So, my question is - does someone have some experience with GA3 as pollen substitute in case of annona? I would like to know appropriate dose.
