Thanks for posting pics puglvr. So far, not too bad! My bananas are showing some bronzing, but looks like everything else is ok. Hopefully the upcoming days won't get too cold. I was 38.5 here this morning, but tonight and friday are forecast to be colder. I've got xmas lights strung up the trunks and in the canopies of my trees. How close to the lights were the bronzed areas on your pickering? I'm curious how much protection the lights really give? I know what you mean about the lychees! Mine flushed growth in December, so I'm hoping it will hurry up and get to its next growth spurt so it will bloom this year! I can see the next set of growth forming - hope it hurries up to take advantage of the cold! If it doesn't fruit this year, then I'll have to decide if I'm going to prune it back because it is at the max size of my shelter. Hope we both get fruit on ours this year!

Hi Sun!! My lights were no where near the part of  the leaves that had cold (bronzing) damage...I'm sure the sun exposure after the freeze just made it more visible  :(...my Christmas lights are more towards the top of the trunk above the Carpet Foam wrapping, my thinking was the heat would rise up? I too am wondering just how much heat it gives...but I'm hoping its better than nothing lol...

They posted warnings again for me for tonight/early morning...I'm sure Friday night as well  :'(

I hope we both get some fruits from our Lychees too...gosh knows we've both had enough chilling hours...TOO much actually!!

Got a little warmer this PM than they expected. Hopefully it means a little warmer tonight. So far I have a little bronzing on the leaves of an Ice Cream Banana that is out further from cover than others. I did not get below 40 degrees last night.

Seems like the meteorologists have their work cut out for them this season: forecasts have been all over the place and off the mark more than usual. Had forecasted a low of 45 last night and hit 38 in SW Ranches. This is the third 5-7 degree miss in the past two weeks.

To be fair, there was a last minute frost warning posted this am for Dade Broward and PB counties.

Hope everyone fared well. Come on blooms!

Just for fun (and cuz I wanted to know), last night (Wednesday) I put the dual probe thermometer from the smoker in with one of the small trees covered with frost cloth that was going to have the C9 light string turned on. I have a remote monitor so I could check it with out going outside. I put one probe near the base of the trunk (where the lights were) and the other up near the top.
Before I turned on the light string at about 10PM last night, the actual outside temp was 39F, both probes in the covered plant were reading 37F. Turned the lights on and a little over 1 hour the probes were both reading 43F. Checked the probe temps a couple times during the night and they held steady at 43F (don't know what actual outside temps were at those times). But at 5AM Thursday morning, outside temp was 35F, both probes still at 43F.
It was very calm with almost no wind during the night, the plant was in a pot and I cinched the frost cloth around the pot with a strap, so it was buttoned up pretty good as far as cold air getting into it.

My guanabana leaves are showing signs of cold damage  and the only fruit it had fell off. :( Hopefully, the next time it produces fruit, it will be in the spring or summer and not towards the end of autumn...

Nice shelter Dangermouse! And great data. I keep a sensor in one of my shelters so I can record temps inside the shelters. When below freezing, my shelters add 4-6 degrees of warmth.

Yesterday the forecast changed midday, no frost yay!

Yes.
Wednesday and Thursday nights look chilly for the interior and northern parts of Florida.
