So please, what do you think? My co-worker is from Puerto Rico and says this tree grows everywhere there and it's the best fruit ever...he talks so much about it that I searched for seeds (tree was stupidly expensive) and now have a seedling growing, and two more seeds germinating. I've never eaten mamey apple, so I'd love to hear what you thought of it.

I will 100% post my findings. But I’ve read that their taste can vary. Yes I found the tree to be expensive as well. I planted a 5ft specimen on my property this year. I’m going to grow a few more from the seeds of the fruit I ordered and use my current tree to graft onto the seedlings since I know my tree is a self fertile variety. But I’m going to grow some straight from seed to see if I can get multiple flavor profiles

Mammea apple is excellent! Can't wait until mone flowers so I can get some budwood to graft onto it.

Flavor to me is a cross between raspberry and apricot, which I thinks are great flavors. Tried it both hard and soft, both are great but probably prefer soft.
