My "bernicker" is a few weeks off harvest. Unfortunately, it seems to have been mislabeled. Fruit is better than normal bernicker, but they are half the size and have lots of seed. Maher should be ready in a few weeks too.

So I'm not the only one with a mislabelled Bernicker? Mine has the same characteristics of a Maher, more flatter than round.

Thank you for your offer.
I'm happy with any type of black sapote because I don't have any of them  :-[.  Any chance to get the giant Mossman seeds ?.

Mossman is novel, but the fruit isn't nearly as good as bernicker or superb. Mine was given as a freebie to a neighbor two years ago now.

Mossman, maher and even the flying saucer are pretty and good and on par with bernicker, if allowed to fully ripen in my opinion. The issue with the big types is how do you eat 5lbs of black goo in a sitting?

No way. In fact I would say superb is better than bernicker. Mossman is riddled with seeds.

I tried to make a chocolate souffle with black sapote last year. It was singularly awful and I failed dismally.

What about the last 40 before those?

The only way you're getting seedless mossmans is if they're grown in isolation.

Let me change that to most giant flying saucers have been seedless or almost so and most mossman's have had only a few seeds with some having none. Look at past threads where I show some examples.I find the taste and quality vary only a bit between varieties compared with many other fruit species.

Look at the time of year on past threads with them as that would be more accurate than my memory.
