I have. Had one take out of about six.

But yeah, not ideal. I'm sure it lowers success rate.

While not ideal, you can trim the pushed buds and then toss them into your fridge for at least a few weeks to put them back into dormancy.

Also been on the hunt for this variety as well. Would love some scions Stomata.

If anyone has some seeds they're willing to sell, I'd like to buy some from you so I can experiment with in-ground seedling growth here.

Seems like a solution looking for a problem.

FWIW, I had good success cleft grafting these with equal or near equal sized branches.

Depending on where you live and when you're grafting, bud grafts may have less success if you're doing it in the summer or winter.

I love saywee.com so much.

Cuttings received in great shape, and fingers and toes are crossed for rooting. Thanks!

I love them, but they're nigh impossible to grow here so I can only enjoy them from the labors of others at supermarkets.

5 for cravings craven is cheap. I bought it when it was hyped for $80 from Pan himself from figbid.

Big reason I'm all over this post. Lol.

Is it the fruiting or male Contorted?

I'm definitely down for Craven's Craving, I-258, and Smith.

Fig hobby being what it is, I have to ask, where are the varieties sourced from?

Hopeless fig addict here. One of the few "set it and forget it" trees we can grow here in Vegas, outside of watering.

I have about 25 different varieties, albeit many are small, newer cuttings that are between a year old or in the process of being rooted. Established trees are D'Elena and K-7-11, with a semi-established I-258.

Newer ones in ground are Yellow Long Neck, Rimada, Super Jumbo DK, and one other I can't recall off of the top of my head.

Another problem with figs is quite a few of our members live in areas where growing figs is difficult due to an extremely bad Root Knot Nematode which will devastate even supposed resistant trees in a couple years. I grow some in pots that I got from cuttings a few years back, but they dont get very big and have poor fruit harvests.

They don't do all that great in regular potting soil in my experience. If you're growing in pots, they want alkaline clay, or something like it. Adding wood ashes will help a lot.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Foliar Feeding Micronutrients

I rely on this a fair bit for in-ground non-native outdoor plants/fruit trees due to nutrient lock with our high pH clay/crap soil. There's a pretty noticeable difference between ones I don't foliar feed or get lazy with their schedule, and the ones I do.

Anecdotal, but there you go.

My understanding is that borsigiana can exist as both full green and variegated, with the former being a common plant sold in stores. Supposed biggest difference with the full green borsigiana and deliciosa is the former has much less pronounced fenestrations and overall smaller leaves.

West Las Vegas remains 9a, and east/NLV/Henderson is now 9b.

I still think we should get a specific growing zone known just as "Ha! Good luck with that!". There's so many more challenges growing here than in other places that zone designations just don't suffice.

Hope you're able to dig it up and save it. Would be really sad to see such a productive 50 year old tree bite the dust.

Checking in. Any news on the "paint brush handles" K-Rimes?

Guess who forgot the 10% coupon code? Lol.

No worries though. Cuttings came in. Excited to grow them. Thanks!

Might get some of the Isan Indigo sugar apple seeds you have. Do you know the cold tolerance of that variety?

Is it spondias mombin for the hog plum? If so, I'm interested.

Thanks palmtreeluke! I'll check those out.

Thus far I've been growing Pele's Smoke (mostly for ornamental reasons) and a yellow variety that I graciously got from Spaugh. The former is establishing well, and the latter has been growing like a weed, which is fantastic. Also got a baby Hilo Buddah that's staying in a pot until spring.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up! I'll be buying some tomorrow.

Any recommendation on what you consider top tier varieties for chewing and juicing?
