Anyone have wax jambu growing in zone 9? How does it handle cold? Starfruit ?

I am in 9b. Starfruit both times I have had them does not like the cold and have frozen and died. Had better luck with my wax jambu and it has had its upper branches freeze 2 winters ago but lower branches survived and it lived.
