At minimum I’d support that branch right away. I don’t think that’s the cause, but it needs support. I’d also consider lightening that fruit load some, look up some unripe mango recipes, there are plenty. Might be sunburn to the bark. I might prune back that branch after you are done harvesting the fruit.

Thank for the great advice!
Should I remove the largest fruit and leave the smaller ones ?

Get used to having to prop up mango tree branches. Prop that up ASAP and do a really good job. Then you don't need to take off any mangoes.

ASAP prop it up because a strong wind will crack that branch (I have had this happen) and all yer mangoes will be useless....just weeks from harvest and useless. >:(   >:(    >:(   :-X    :-X

Sweet Tart tastes good green. You can just peel them and eat them like an apple.

Thanks fellas! As soon as this rain stops I’ll be propping the limb , but I’m afraid I have to start amputating the split limbs Alex stated that it May be a bacterial infection!

So these mangoes I believe are 1 month away from harvest, I think they may be saved .

Thanks for your help!

Sorry to hear about your tree, hope you can salvage the rest of the tree.

Looks like sunburn.

I lost 50 plus sweet tart mangoes when a huge branch broke a couple of weeks ago.

After I see your second set of pics, I agree that there’s no need to remove the unripe fruit. Seeing the whole tree I’m not worried, you can easily cut that branch off after harvest. I’d also start shaping that tree, open up the canopy. There are a couple of excellent videos on how to shape mango trees by an African guy teaching local farmers how to reshape their orchards.  Here’s one, I think he has two or three and they’re excellent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXzpjZA38N0

Looks good but keep an eye on it for slippage etc.  +Make sure it's holding up OK  Hope you have a good harvest and you can deal with that extended branch after your family has  filled their bellies with sweet tarts
