Thanks Peter, good to know. Should I mound up mulch (to cover them) or just mulch as usual?

Starting to harvest

So how large is your Kwai Muk.  Is it n the ground?  How long did you have it before it set fruit?

I just set mine into the ground here two weeks ago.  They came out of three gallon pots and are both about 3-1/2 feet tall right now and are pushing new leaves.

We're in a drought situation right now in west central Florida so I've been watering them a lot and they have not evidenced any wilting so far.

I'm hoping that mine aren't going to take forever to bloom and set some fruit.

Cheers!

Paul M.

I bought some round (3cm/1.18inch) ABS plastic tags with a hole that I screwed to the trunk. I used the iPhone app NFC tools to write some info about the tree.

What I originally wanted was credit card sized NFC tags with thermal printed information also for each tree. I didn’t know which printer would work with an ink that lasts outside.
That way I could visually identify and not always use my phone.

Do you have pictures of the flowers or leaves?

Maybe this can help. http://sweetgum.nybg.org/science/projects/lp/taxon-list/

Buy a compost thermometer. Reotemp makes good ones.

I always just press tropical fruit seeds onto the soil. Never covering them. I had 100% germination with keel seeds sent from Oscar at fruitlovers. The seeds get lifted into the air before the leaves open.

I think your seeds are just getting dry to fast.
I would try a humidity dome or tent.
