Looking for achachairu/achacha tree
« on: March 17, 2012, 07:20:17 AM »
Somewhere in the south Florida region. I found seeds but I will like to purchase an already established tree. Could be young, I just don't do very well with seeds yet.
Please PM or post here!
Thanks!
Mara

Thanks for feedback now I'm excited about receiving this little tree! I actually ordered the larger one, it was 19 + shipping came to $36.
I'll post immediately after I get it. Should I put directly in ground, in a pot for a while?
It's intended location is on the north side of the house, a shady moist area most of the year with some sun in the summer.

Could someone recommend a good soil mix for a bare rooted plant?  Thanks, Greg

I usually just use a well drained mix with a decent amount of perlite. This link describes the same thing pretty much: http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=634.0

Ethan,
I would be interested in 1.  Will you be coming down for Green Scene?

Ethan, I'm still waiting for mine from Montoso gardens.  It says on there website it will fruit in the shade.  Would you say that's accurate because I have lots of room on the north side of my house and would like to put it there if possible.  Thanks, Greg

I hope to be at the Green Scene Sat morning Rodney, when are you going?

Greg, mine have not fruited yet but last year they were outside in filtered light and grew very nicely.
