Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: group order for parafilm tape
« on: March 08, 2020, 12:40:03 AM »
I’ll take a box. Let me ask some of the group on fb to see if they want to get any.  Maybe this will help drive up the 108 number.

Thanks Mikey.  I’m looking for scions to graft instead of buying the tree.  Is your tree big enough to sell me some woods?

Hi,

Anyone on the forum have this for sale? Thanks

That’s a great source with so many varieties to choose from.  Thanks for sharing Simon.

Most people won’t have fruit for you to sample this time of year.  I have small trees at reasonable price.  Pm me if interested.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: My 2019 Cherimoya Tast surprise bag
« on: February 01, 2019, 11:51:11 AM »
The price for each bag is so low plus you’re supporting a good cause. Seeds alone should cost that much. Imagine the man power and all the free fruits that go into this event. They’re just there to spread the love of cherimoya :).  Too bad I couldn’t make it this year. Otherwise I would’ve bought all of the return bags.

Thanks Mikey! Love that monster f2 ap.  How’s the sweetness, seed count, and chewy level compare to regular ap? Which one would you prefer?

That’s amazing growth for 10 months. I finally put mine down on Xmas day. Hopefully it’ll survive and thrive like yours.

I don’t think so. It’s just loosing leaves.  Eventually you’ll have no leave and it will look more dead but it’s not.  It’s one of those trees that will be very hard to die.

Frank,

I still remember that jumbo geffner you sent me a few years ago. Over 2 pounds of deliciousness.  That was our dinner for that night.  You are definitely the king of annona of CA.

Hey spaugh,

I have one here in national city.  It was a seedling I planted a few years ago.  Flowered last year in 15 gallon pot but no fruit.  I finally put it in the ground last December. It’s still spreading its roots so probably no flower or fruit this year.  My neighbors both have a big trees (my guess would be at least 5-10 years).  I’ve seen flowers on them before too but never went back to see if it turned into fruits.

Thanks dragon.

For those who already paid for your order, I’ll ship it out on Monday so it’s fresh and not sitting in transit somewhere on Sunday.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Vietnamese black watermelon?
« on: February 15, 2018, 07:56:55 PM »
Hey Simon,

This is one of the fruits we decorate for Tet (Vietnamese new year- same time as Chinese New Year).  I think what the other person meant to tell you was “this is a Vietnamese watermelon variety that was grown in Mexico.”  They plant and harvest around this time for Tet.

There’s a lunar festival celebration this Friday-Sunday at the Mira Mesa park.  Don’t forget to come out to enjoy the food, music, and games for those in San Diego.

It’s ready as long as the rootstock is big enough to match the scion. I do mine when they’re pencil size.

Thuan phat supermarket in little Saigon is selling $43 a box.

It tastes so much better from the tree Simon.  These commercial harvest picked the fruits way too early.  It’s definitely worth growing if we can grow and fruit them here in San Diego.

Good luck dragon! Let us know if yours survive and fruit in the coming years.
