All these cado trees got me wondering why in the world I can't seem to get one to take off. They all end up drying out after a while and eventually I pull them due to lack of growth. May be I need to quit because I have spent 100's of dollars trying. Zone 9B. Orlando. I have done all I could even mound planting and babying them. SMH.

WOW! Rob those are some large banana. Do you mind sharing a picture of the tallest plant you have. I am curious to see if it is prettier than the blue java because I really like how the blue javas look when they are large I just don't like how long it takes to fruit. I hear the sweethearts don't take as long to blooming also are quicker to ripen from the counter but stay green on tree allowing to preserve the fruit much longer. Seems like a true champ. Can you tell me more about it please? Did I get a true sweetheart judging from the photo I posted?

Where did you get your trees?

Yes, I just don't know about that Kathy. I have heard bad reviews on  it lately and mine is slow growing. May be one flush all summer.

Half rack of blue javas on plant, Dwarf Cavendish pushing out bananas, and a newly planted sweetheart for next year.

Thanks. My Kathy seems like it does not want to grow at all but my Coconut Cream is doing great and the Pina Colada. I pugged my Peach Cobbler but deers kept eating it and eventually it died of stress. Question should I get rid of my Kathy that is ground planted and put my LZ in it’s place. My LZ is in a 35 Gal container.

My PC looks like it died after pugging it. Seems like the stress took the life away from it. I will keep it until next year in hopes that it is just dormant. It was a very vigorous grower prior to pugging it, It gave about 8-12 new branches from the node. Deers kept chewing away at though>>>

Facebook @Mangotreegrowersofamerica so others can be informed of the new mango varieties out. Anyone reporting on the Kathy Mango this year I feel like it has dissapeared fro  the radar...

Sweetheart? How tall does that one get and how does it compare to the Namwah or But Java.

Can the Goldfingers be eaten cooked? I have cooked my Blue Java aka Ice Cream Bananas and they taste fantastic. I also took a few from the current bunch that is hanging and counter ripened them and they took a little over a week to ripen but once they did they also were sweet and delicious. Such a great reward from the plant. The only thing I consider a thumbs down is that it took me almost 2 years to get that bunch.

Thanks, that Fe'i sounds like a champ! What about any that can be both a plantain or eaten as a sweet banana? I hear Namwah is the best for that category.

***Banana Plants*** What are your Top 1, 2 and 3 backyard banana plant varieties?

I have tried Dwarf Cavendish and Blue Java varieties and continue to grow these. Also have some Dwarf Plantains but curious to see what is the community think is the top 3 choices. Thanks in advance!

So anyone here reporting on the Pina Colada for this year? I have one and it is a slow grower. It is finally pushing out it's second flush since planting it this year. My CC is doing fantastic and is pushing out it's 3rd round of foliage. Kind of interesting to see if I may have to get rid of my CC if a Pina Colada taste similar. Anyone reporting a difference in taste?
