Citrus General Discussion / Re: WTB (in AZ)- Honey Crispy Kumquat
« on: February 19, 2024, 04:43:07 PM »
I am hearing some real things about this kumquat. Like the fruit is all rind which is great for a kumquat.
Any idea of where to buy this in Arizona. Don't have any hope for scion or tree.

My tree is having fruits, not ripe yet. May be I can provide a taste test result in few weeks.

Do you have yellow cassava, white roselle, and double petal butterfly peas?

Hi there. Know this is an older post but did you have any luck rooting. I am still interested in the Florida Sweet and Manoa Sweet. Please let me know. Thanks

I sent you a message on Manoa Sweet.

FYI,

VP, you do know the difference between a bud and scion wood?

They require you order the minimum of 3 buds which is equal to one scion wood. So, one scion wood cost $15 each. You have one scion wood of each variety on your order. Sometimes they will give you one extra scionwood for each of those order if the branch is not large.

Yes I know the difference between BUD and SCION. I ordered from them many times in the past and got one tiny scion per kind sometimes, I am well aware of the cost of each scion wood and I am offering here the extra scion for a faction of the cost.

7
Could I ask what made you select those varieties?

I read the description and selected what I prefer to have. Just experimenting with different varieties to see what I like best

8
I placed an order with CCRG and have few surplus scionwood to pass on at 5.00 per SCION. CCRG charges 5.00 per BUD. Cut date is 1/16/24. Shipping is 5.00 per order. I can only ship within CA. If you are close enought to 91702, you can pickup this weekend. Please see the list on the attached packing slip

Be careful. Pretty sure when you purchase scions from CCPP you’re agreeing to maintain the material at your property.

I have not grafted them...for crying out loud! to even maintain them🙄

9
I graft. Never like rooting citrus. In Socal you can graft citrus year round. Now is the time to cut scion because citrus is waking up and gonna start blooming soon. If not grafting now, I usually wait til end of summer to graft.

Have you tasted the Thai Long green? Which one tastes better IMO? Kecil or Thai long?
Simon has it right, some of the wax jambus taste like water. The best one I've tasted is "Kecil" I brought over an airlayer from Frankies in Hawaii. Ong Nursery has airlayers from my tree. He has about 40 varieties in San Diego.

Been looking for a decent sized barbados cherry plant. PM me if you have any along with other plants that you are selling.

Barbados cherry grows very fast. A small 5g plant is enough to give you fruit next year. If you are near 91702, I do have an extra tree in 15g pot. 60.00

Has anyone had their paypal account temporarily limited? I got flagged and got an email this morning. I guess we need to explain out purchases to them from now on?

Nope. You need to pay attention to certain words in your payment note. They flagged some sensitive words like Cuba
and it will take a while to clear. Best to put a space between letters

I went there and tried it. It was actually seedless if the fruit is small and tiny seed if the fruit is big. Can't afford it.

Does anyone know anything about this variety? I asked Quang and he said these came from his farm in Fallbrook. He mentioned they have mostly no seeds, with size similar to emperor. He said the flavor was "very sweet and complex".

What you bought at Mimosa is  the common Taiwan seedless guava. They don't have Crystal.

Crystal guava leaves are not round. I have one but no leaves at the moment due to shock from shipping. But the leaves from the tree when it arrived were pointy. I bought from CHnursery you mentioned above

I found this videos regarding seedless guava and the difference in leaves when young and mature. Does the tree in the video look like a Crystal Guava to you guys?

I bought from him several times. Trees are small but they all live. He is retired and operates a home nursery so don't expect full customer service. He gets the order, check and ship or cancel the order and that's all he is gonna communicate.

Seedless guava is slow growing. Wherever you buy, the tree will look small compare to the price you pay.

Grafted Crystal seedless guava in 25 gallon pot for $300  pick up only  in the city of San Gabriel

Do they fruit well in a container that size?

Yes, very heavy producers. It's currently holding lots of late season fruits.
Yea. I saw those two websites when I did a search. He doesn’t seem very reliable. Very difficult to get response and when he does send out the trees, I read people complain that the trees were very small. Does anyone have actual experience buying from these two website?
