I think with adequate watering they should be OK for Summer heat.
Freezes I'm not sure of... although they seem to do OK in central Florida with the occasional freeze.

I have some grafted White Pakistanis and Shatoots that are starting to push out new leaves.
So stay tuned...

Kevin

I haven't tried planting them out... just containers.
There are so many individual plants in each pot... you can experiment with planting out... and still have plenty of back-ups saved in reserve!

Personally I don't know how Kaz does it... If I don't cover may fruit with netting the birds get first dibs on all the ripe ones... not really practical for a larger yard size tree.
Surely there are birds in SoCal?

Very interesting Mike.
And again I want to thank you for recommending the Kishus... they are fantastic.

Kevin

438
I found that the grafting tool you mention was too rough on tender tropical cuttings... probably best for temperate hardwood cuttings.
I'm using a pretty basic setup... grafting knife and wax tape.

Kevin

They are watered daily... part of my routine... so water deprivation isn't the answer.
Also... they are all growing in containers if that means anything.
I'm not saying this is a problem... more of a curiosity.
And it seems to be happening on all of my mature Kishu trees.
Kevin

440
Hey Mike…
Yes I am weekly feeding them… lots of new growth.

Kevin

The Red Jabos seem to be one of the earliest to start fruiting.
And now you have a 2-year head start... Good Luck!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Why Are My Kishu Trees Blooming Again?
« on: June 12, 2022, 06:55:21 PM »
My Kishu trees went through their regular Spring bloom... set fruit... and now I see they are blooming again.
Anyone else experience this?
I've only been growing them a couple of years now... so maybe it is not unusual?

Kevin

443
No problem...
I checked them earlier and they appear to be pushing.
Grafted onto Thai Dwarf...

Kevin

444
#5 is officially gone... that leaves #4.

Kevin

I still have #4 and #5 left from this batch of plants.
Don't forget... Forum members can snag the ebay plant (#5) at the much reduced Forum price.

That sound right...
The best reds I have tasted did indeed have a citrus type flavor.

Give it a couple of weeks and I may be able to help you out.
Did some grafting last week.
