Title: Joey avacado tree

I have a 3.5 year old grafted joey, it was 10 foot tall last year so I topped it to 7.'
This tree looks healthy but only grew up and not out. The diameter is only 1 inch. I have several branches on the tree but none more than 1.5' long. I foalier feed it weekly and give it as much organic fertilizer as it could want.

I've only head bad things about this tree although when I researched before purchase it it said it was great quality.

I plan to wait 1 more year. Am I wasting my time or has anyone had any luck with this tree???

Does it have fruit this year?

At this point if the tree is healthy and established I would
wait and sample the fruit ( hopefully this year ).
If you don't like it you can top work it later.  It sounds
like you have a healthy tree. If you want a more dense tree
keep topping it. Don't worry what everyone thinks, wait and
decide if you like the taste. If the tree isn't productive again
topwork it.

No fruit, lot of flowers but no fruit.  I think I would like the fruit but found blogs in central Florida where the said they only get a couple fruit into year 5 and only 3-6 ounces. i am planting a small Day avacado next to it soon (type a / b that flower at the same time. I will give it one more spring to bear fruit. If not I will try to graft another variety on it.

This is one pushed a lot and currently sold locally.  I got rid of it.  Bland, nasty taste compared to something like Reed or Pinkerton, thin skin, small fruit, big seed.  I'd top work it to Pinkerton, Reed, or Stewart if you're in a cold zone.  Oro Negro is pretty good fruit.  I also got rid of Brogdon.   To be fair, I only let it fruit the first year and it was only a skinny 4' tall tree.  Pretty precocious really, fruiting the same year I planted it, self pollinated.
